What we publish
Our library currently covers 203 programs across 20 categories, plus 28 step-by-step guides. Each software page explains the program's purpose, licensing, system requirements, installation, everyday usage, limitations and credible alternatives.
We concentrate on Windows because that is where most of our readers are, and because Windows software questions — compatibility, licensing, bundled installers — are the ones that most often go unanswered. Mac coverage exists where a program is genuinely cross-platform.
How we stay useful
- Every page answers a specific question rather than restating a product description.
- Licensing is stated plainly: free, open source, trialware or paid.
- We name limitations and trade-offs, not only features.
- Facts we have not confirmed are omitted rather than guessed at.
What we do not do
- We do not host installers or mirror binaries.
- We do not publish invented ratings, review counts or testimonials.
- We do not claim to have benchmarked software we have not benchmarked.
- We do not accept payment for a favourable verdict.
Corrections
Software changes constantly: licences shift, features move behind subscriptions, and installers change their bundling behaviour. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will correct the page and update its revision date.
